Cleoda Walker | Cherry Hill
Cleoda has proudly lived in the Cherry Hill Community for over 75 Years and has passionately worked as a dedicated community activist for over 60 years. She is affectionately known by many in the Cherry Hill Community as “Mama Cleo” for her helping, generous, and nurturing spirit. Moreover, Cleoda has devoted most of her life advocating for the overall betterment of the Cherry Hill Community. She is a strong woman who is persistent when it comes to bringing about revitalization, transformation, justice, equality, and righteousness. Additionally, she works unselfishly in social justice to improve the lives and conditions under which many youths and adults in our communities’ struggle to survive in.
Cleoda Walker is currently an active member in numerous organizations geared toward the refinement of the Cherry Hill Community and other surrounding communities in Baltimore such as: The SB7 Coalition, Cherry Hill Community Coalition, Cherry Hill Ministerial Alliance, Baltimore City Guardian Angels, Baltimore City Police Chaplain, Maryland State Selective Service Board per former President Barack Obama.
Cleoda Walker was selected as one of Baltimore’s Black Unsung Heroines for her contributions made to the Cherry Hill Community and Baltimore City. She received the Froelicher Award, the WJZ TV Award for outstanding Community Service and the Enterprise Foundation National Leadership Award. She is a Cherry Hill Legend Inductee for her tireless service and commitment to the Cherry Hill Community. Cleoda Walker is a recipient of the prestigious American Institute for Public Service National Jefferson Award for her outstanding community service. In 2022, a Street in the Cherry Hill Community was named in her honor as Cleoda Walker Way. In May 2023, she received the Caring for the Community Certification from John Hopkins Academic Medicine. Most recently, she was inducted in the 2023 Cherry Hill Hall of Fame.
Every day of her blessed life, Commissioned Pastor Cleoda Walker, devotes her time to being a devout community activist and change agent for God striving to transform lives and communities, for the greater good.
