For Steven T. Johnson, leading SB7 United Communities Coalition is more than a professional role—it is an opportunity to help strengthen the communities and families that make South Baltimore home.
Steven brings more than a decade of experience in education, nonprofit leadership, workforce development, youth development, and community engagement. His commitment to Baltimore’s young people and families has been shaped by years of service in education as a Baltimore City Public Schools Teacher and Dean of Students, as well as through residential youth programming, workforce development, and community-based leadership.
Steven is also the Founder and Executive Director of Love in the Park, a Baltimore nonprofit focused on creating workforce development and career pathways for young people and adults through culinary, hospitality, leadership, and life-skills training. He has also spent years serving as a community leader in Park Heights, advocating for neighborhood investment, resources, and improvements.
His connection to South Baltimore is personal. Steven and his family are natives of South Baltimore, with deep roots in Cherry Hill. Those roots shape his belief that residents should not simply be invited into conversations after decisions have been made—they should help shape the vision, priorities, and investments affecting their communities from the beginning.
